Due to the remote nature of the Niassa area, illnesses and injuries largely go untreated. The median age of the population is approximately less than17 yrs and the infant mortality rate is around 140 per 1000 births.

Malaria is one prolific killer of the local population and infected mosquitoes are the carriers of this deadly disease. An important part of our overall eco-development program is the control of mosquito breeding areas. Mosquito netting and preventative medications will be supplied to the local populations in the short term to further support malarial control.

To improve quality of life, we will bring new methods of medical care, hire and train staff and supply medicines for preventative and reactive treatments. In addition, we will supply clean water to the area through production of wells and management of clean water distribution.
