MCO has formulated a
concentric ring approach for our rural
development strategy to promote conservation,
education, healthcare, and economic
development by employing and educating
the local populations in our areas of
operations. Our vision is that as we
implement new projects, new supporting
commerce will be created by the local
Mozambicans. MCO will launch the program
with seed capital and continue to support
programs with our management oversight
and on-going training.
New wage earners, such as the game scouts
we have trained and employed from the
local villages for conservation, will
now have the means to purchase produce
and manufactured goods from their own
or neighboring villages. By buying,
selling and trading new products and
services, a free enterprise system that
can continue to grow will emerge. Our
goal is to support Mozambique in its
emergence as a global economic partner
while promoting the importance of its
natural environment as a true resource.
By providing new avenues for subsistence,
we can truly contribute to the reduction
and ultimate elimination of practices
that are extremely destructive to the
flora and fauna in Mozambique’s amazing
wilderness. |
